So now that our Broncos have a new head coach I thought it would be a perfect time to offer my 2 cents on what McD should do to the roster (particularly on D). Replay negatively or positively if you feel like it.
One of the biggest things I would like McD to do is keep Peyton Hillis as the teams running back. I watched every game this year (as i do every year) and his power along with his vision is what a typical running back needs to possess in order to be an elite back in the NFL. There is no doubt in my mind that he can be a solid 1,500 yard guy and his build can allow the team to give him the ball at least 25-30 times a game. My favorite part about him though; HE FALLS FORWARD UPON INITIAL CONTACT.
So Hillis stays right? That means some of the other backs must go. Selvin Young can go because he is not a stand out RB and i think he might be selfish and want more money down the road which is money that should go to Peyton. Pittman, Andre Hall, Aldridge, and Ryan Torain should go also. I would like to see Hillis's backup be Tatum Bell cause i think he is the perfect change of pace back to Hillis. Peyton grinds down the D in the first half and Bell comes in and blows by all the defenders in the second half.
Now lets get to the most important part that needs fixing; the Defense. As much as most Broncos fans would hate me for this, I think McD should trade Champ Bailey and cut ties with Dre Bly. Bly sucks balls and Champ is on the decline. Rebuilding the defence is needed and I think the team can still get at least a 2nd round pick for champ.
The defensive line could not get pressure on the QB and that was a major factor in the team giving up so many yards this year. I think the only player that should stay is Dumervil. Everyone else should go (especially those god-awful draft picks from a couple years ago Moss and the other forgettables).
Linebackers? Keep DJ for sure as he is a monster on the outside and a tackle machine. Get rid of Nate Webster. The man simply cannot find the right hole in run defense and looks lost most of the time on the field (seriously what was wrong with Ian Gold???). I think that Wesley Woodyard should be the starter opposite DJ. He continually made big plays for us when called upon and he should only get better once he matures in the league.
So what does everyone else think???
